Two women are Hospitalized after separate shootings in New York City
Two women are hospitalized after separate shootings in Manhattan and Brooklyn. one of which resulted in the lockdown of a school.
Police said a 26-year-old woman was wounded in the right shoulder late on Monday afternoon near the Wagner Houses off First Avenue in East Harlem. According to law enforcement officials, the 25-year-old suspect was reportedly spotted firing at another man from a Citi Bike also. After that guy was quickly taken into custody.
Despite having suffered severe injuries, the victim woman was transported to Harlem Hospital and is expected to survive. At the same time, more violence broke out in the marine park section of Brooklyn, which is located across the East River. There 36-year-old mother was shot in the head.
That mother was sitting with her child outside JHS 278 on Stuart Avenue. The mother was hospitalized with severe injuries. According to the doctor, she was making a recovery. After police claimed that an argument preceded the shooting, the father of the child she was with was taken into custody. Law enforcement sources, however, claimed that they are looking into the possibility that the incident was a suicide attempt.
Parents and pupils were terrified because the school was placed on lockdown because the shooting occurred so near to it. Student Zakaria, 11 years old, stated, “It was kind of scary.” We were confined to the auditorium for several hours since we could not leave. Still, it has not been revealed who the alleged shooter was in the East Harlem event or the suspected shooter in the Brooklyn incident. There are still investigations into both occurrences.
