The qualifications matches are going on within the Five Continental Confederation of International Association Football. The winners among 211 FIFA member associations groups will be qualifying for the next challenge. 31 national teams from different countries will be selected for the matches in Qatar.

 

Schedule of Qualifications of World Cup 2022

Six Continental Confederation of International Association Football:

 

  • Asian Football Confederation (AFC): There is a total of 46 teams and 182 matches have been played. The first round started on 6th June 2019 where it has 4 rounds. 3rd round is ongoing and 4th round date has not been fixed.

 

  • Confederation of African Football (CAF): Started from 4th September 2019, 69 matches have been played. It has 54 teams and 2nd round will finish on 16 November 2021.

 

  • The Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF): With a total of 34 teams, 74 matches have been played. It was started on 24th March 2021 and the final round will finish on 30th March 2022

 

  • The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL): The matches started on 8th October and will finish on 29th March. There is a total of 10 teams and 44 matches are played.

 

  • The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA): Round one started on 24th March 2021 and will finish on 16 November 2021 whereas 2nd round has not been fixed. For the competition, there are 55 teams and till now 150 matches is been conducted.

 

  • Oceania Football Confederation (OFC): OFC has not been able to organize any matches due to the pandemic. But the authorities are trying their best to organize the matches. They will convey the information once it’s set for the World Cup.

 

  • NOTE: A World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina was suspended after four Argentine players were accused of breaking quarantine rules.
