Anxiety attacks are also known as panic attacks. Panic attacks are episodes of severe panic and fear. They generally occur suddenly without any warnings. There are several types of Anxiety disorders. A few of the disorders are;

 

Generalized anxiety order (GAD):

 

GAD is excessively worrying about different things. People with this anticipate danger and worry highly about every aspect of life. It affects about 6.8 million adults. These people can’t control their worry and have difficulty tolerating uncertainty. The symptoms of GAD are;

 

  1. Feeling restless often.
  2. Getting tired easily.
  3. Low Concentration.
  4. Easily irritated.
  5. Insomnia

 

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD):

 

OCD is a mental illness, it causes unwanted repeated thoughts and sensations. OCD makes one feel the need to do something repeatedly. It happens in such a way that it affects one’s day-to-day life. There are various types of OCD. They are;

  1. Checking
  2. symmetry and ordering
  3. Ruminations and intrusive thoughts.

 

Symptoms:

  1. Checking locks, alarms, gas, light, etc repeatedly.
  2. Fearing contamination of germs and dirt and feeling the need to clean frequently.
  3. Needing to have things in order and systematic way.
  4. Obsessing over a line of thought, that may sometimes be Violent.

 

Panic disorder:

 

It is an anxiety disorder where you frequently have a sudden attack of panic and fear. It is different from panicking in an uncertain situation. The symptoms are;

  1. Heart rate increases.
  2. Extreme Sweating.
  3. Nausea and chest pain.
  4. Shaky limbs and dizziness.
  5. Dry mouth and churning stomach.
  6. ringing in your ears and tingling sensation in your fingers.

 

Panic attacks are scary, here are things you can do while you are having one;

  1. Do not fight it.
  2. Take a deep breath in and out slowly.
  3. Focus on positive and relaxing images.
  4. Focus on relaxation of muscles.

 

Post-traumatic stress disorder:

 

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric disorder. This occurs in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. These people have intense, disturbing thoughts related to the event they have witnessed. The event may be natural disasters, wars, death, etc. This situation affects the brain and the memories are set in a person’s mind. This causes them to relive those moments frequently. The major symptoms are;

 

  1. The intrusion of repeated thoughts and memories.
  2. Avoiding people, places, or anything related to a certain event.
  3. Forgetting details of a certain event.
  4. Having frequent outbursts, getting easily startled, etc.

 

Social anxiety disorder:

 

It is a fear of being watched or judged by other people during interactions. They are more common in people who are shy. The fear is so bad that they can’t even talk, eat in public. These people generally avoid situations where they might be embarrassed. Its symptoms are;

 

  1. Blushing, sweating, and difficulty breathing.
  2. Feeling Nauseous.
  3. Difficulty having eye contact and rigid body posture.
  4. Self-consciousness.
  5. Prefer being alone, than with people.

Treatment of Anxiety disorders:

 

All of these Anxiety disorders can be treated by going to therapy. In case of extreme anxiety, the doctor prescribes antidepressants. The best way of coping with it is by visiting a licensed professional. We can also do yoga, diet, and exercise. If you find yourself or others experiencing it, you should seek help. The increase in endorphins helps with dealing with it. Acupuncture is also used to deal with it. Discussing difficult situations with friends can help you suffer less. You can take part in activities you like and listen to music.

 

At times it is very hard to manage this disorder. You can visit your therapist to help cope with the problems. Rather than medication, we should focus on healthy living. Feeling calm can also help you overcome it. We should have a balance between family and job. When you experience one of them, you should know what triggers it.

 

We should care for our mental and physical health. We should ask for health and support as well. we should have general social interaction at events. If it is not an underlying medical problem, one can typically get over it with practice.
